Daniel's Example

As you and I pray for revival in America, we would do well to follow the example of the prophet Daniel as he prayed for his homeland, Israel. The sins of Israel were great. Daniel prayed "Our sins have risen up in your face; O God, turn away your anger and fury from us." Daniel stood in the gap and prayed, "O God, remove our guilt and for your name's sake cause Your face to shine on Your sanctuary , which is desolate."

Daniel's motivation to pray was not for Israel's sake or for his own sake, but for God's sake. "For Your city and Your people are called by Your name (Daniel 9:19)." Do you have a burning in your heart for the name of our God to be revered and exalted in the earth, especially in America? His name has been blasphemed and ridiculed.

The focus of our prayer for America should not be that the economy remains strong and the stock market does not take a tumble so we can prosper and enjoy worldly things. The focus of our prayer should be that God may be glorified by revival in our land. God will judge a nation that aborts babies, applauds perversion, revels in pornography and immorality, and sings "God Bless America" at the same time. Let's stand in the gap and pray, "O God, remove our guilt."
